World Whale Day on Maui 2017
The month of February is The Maui Whale Festival presented by Maui's Pacific Whale Foundation. There are many events planned throughout the month including a marathon, an art contest, a film festival as well as the parade and party in the park that draws large crowds yearly.
This Saturday, February 18th World Whale Day celebrated in South Kihei. The event is aimed at raising awareness for the conservation of the whales, our marine life, and their ocean habitat. All of Maui gathers together in the morning to watch the parade beginning at 9 am which features colorful costumes and marching bands. Participate in the fun and conclude with live entertainment and vendors on the lawn at Kalama Park. A Made on Maui Fair with local artisans and crafters will be fun to peruse.
There is also a Keiki stage and carnival section with games, face painting and others to be enjoyed. Relax in appreciation while the whales play in the Pacific Ocean at the height of the breeding season in the Hawaiian Islands. Become a sponsor, take a walk, be a volunteer, or buy a shirt and find a way to get involved! Share time with the community and build awareness to protect our precious oceans. Hope to see you there!
