New Years Eve in Wailea

The biggest New Year Eve celebration in South Maui will be held at the newly renovated Wailea Beach Marriott and Spa. Featured entertainment will be Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Michael MacDonald, Pat Simmons, and more. Willy K and Lily Meola will be amongst the talent representing our beautiful island of Maui. Partygoers come from near and far for this elaborate celebration which is expected to be even more "over-the-top" after the hotels' recent 100 million dollar renovation. The evening kicks off at 7:00 pm with cocktails and dinner, then onto the entertainment and the festivities will conclude with a firework show from the rooftop bar! 

Proceeds from the event go to supporting the Maui Food Bank and The Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Event hosted by the owners of Mala and Migrant as well as the newly opened Humble Market Kitchen. For those looking for a low key celebration, you can find a spot on the beach and catch them from an offshore barge fronting the Grand Wailea hotel.

Local restaurants Nick's Fish Market Maui, Humu's, Longhi's Wailea, and Manoli's amongst others will have dinner specials too.

New Kihei Charter School Campus - Coming Soon

Our charter school in Kihei has been distributed over 3 campuses since inception. This is about to change as preparations are underway to break ground on a new unified campus for our South Maui students. The 63,000 square foot building will be located in The Maui Research and Technology Park with plans include 30 classrooms, an auditorium, and a kitchen. The public charter school will utilize 58,000 sq. feet of the space and the balance will be leased to businesses. 

Kihei Charter School originally opened in 2001 with help from South Maui Learning Ohana and began as 60 students from 12th-12th grade. In 2005 they expanded to include kindergarten through 12th grade and now it's grown to 550 students. For years the campus has been pided amongst 3 different sites that were developed as to accommodate the school as it grew. Now they are ready to join together as one central campus. Students and faculty look forward to the benefits of having broader age ranges in the same location. Hopes are that these changes will allow the children and the faculty to learn from each other.  This is a testament to the forecasted growth on Maui. 

Plans for a separate South Maui High School are still in the works and

Maui Home Prices Continue to Rise

As of November of 2016, the Realtors Association of Maui reports the home values were continuing to climb. Comparing to the same time in 2015, the median home price is up 15.5%. Novembers' results reflected the 10th month in 2016 that we were over 600k, in 2015 that figure was 3. The most active market was Central Maui, up 10% with 316 home sales. The neighborhood reflecting the highest single family sales prices over the year were Kihei-Makena with 21 homes exchanging hands for a median price of 3.1 million. Kapalua came in 2nd with 12 homes at a median price of 2.8M. These figures validate that it is still a great time to buy, sell and invest on Maui. This email address is being protected from spambots. I was pleased to receive this 5-star review on This one being a little different as it provides insight on not just this situation, but my work ethic and standards when helping out-of-towners acquire Maui Real Estate.

"I feel a little bit guilty about the events leading to our finally acquiring our piece of paradise. Gary spent almost 2 years sending us information, and 4 very long days "on the island" driving us to dozens of the sites. He earned every cent of his fee. We were frustrated and you need to understand the underlying issues of the listings. Some Sellers were "testing the market" with no intention to sell, some listed it the same day they bought it hoping for a Bonanza profit. Some were normal, legitimate sellers you would expect, looking for buyers. It was not possible to determine which type of "seller" you were dealing with. Gary was very savvy on what a reasonable price would be. He steered us away from a lower priced complex that had a beach erosion problem pending that would have cost each owner a huge assessment. He wants to sell you a unit, it's his job, but he will gently push you to your appropriate complexes and units. I'certain there were times he was tempted to "fib" to get us to buy something, but he didn't. The end result was that he finally got his commission (might have been minimum wage : ) considering the extent of his effort), but I would recommend him without any reservation. There are people who do their job because they love it, and people who are in it just for the money. Gary is one of the former. You will not be disappointed. Check out Kihei Beach 109."
